Specialised Information Service for Art

As part of the DFG programme „‘Specialised Information Services for Science’“ Heidelberg University Library operates „arthistoricum.net – Specialised Information Service Art - Photography - Design“ together with the SLUB Dresden. One of its tasks is the comprehensive collection of printed and electronic media on these subject areas. The Heidelberg University Library is responsible for the main focus ‘European art history up to 1945 and general art studies’.

It covers the entire spectrum of European art history from the early Christian era to 1945, as well as art in the United States, Canada and Australia, insofar as it was influenced by Europe. Since 1949, Heidelberg University Library has participated in the co-operative system of supra-regional literature supply funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
